One of the world’s most significant long-life lithium projects.
Kathleen Valley is in production, delivering spodumene concentrate to customers to support the world’s transition to a low-carbon future.
With a world-class orebody, fourth-generation process plant, one of Australia’s largest off-grid hybrid power stations and the southern hemisphere’s largest paste plant, this tier-one asset combines world-class geology with responsible and innovative operations.
Kathleen Valley is located on Tjiwarl country, in an established mining region about 60km north of Leinster and 680km north-east of Perth, Western Australia.
The site is readily accessible via sealed highways that connect to the Port of Geraldton, where our concentrate is transported for delivery to customers.
Several airports are located nearby, enabling our team to travel the one-hour flight between site and Perth.

Explore the Dragonfly Village

The Dragonfly Village at Kathleen Valley is emblematic of our respect for the culture of the Traditional Owners of the land our Project occupies, the Tjiwarl people.
According to Tjiwarl, a snake lives on the land – an enormous serpent that stretches all the way to Alice Springs. Dragonfly hunters chased the snake into the nearby Jones Creek to protect the people.

From discovery to production and beyond
Liontown took Kathleen Valley from resource to production in less than 6 years.
Discover where it all began
Kathleen Valley was constructed in just 1.5 years, achieving production on schedule mid-2024.
The Project Team reflect on its transformation from caravans in a clearing to an operation in production.
Open pit mining played a critical role in laying the foundation for our now 100% underground mining operation
It provided waste rock for key infrastructure and ore that supported the early commissioning, ramp-up, and testing of the process plant.
