Liontown provides skin cancer checks at Kathleen Valley to support health & wellbeing
13/03/2026Liontown recently provided free skin cancer checks at Kathleen Valley to make it easier for employees to prioritise their health without the need to travel or organise appointments during their time off.
We place a strong emphasis on the health and wellbeing of our people, recognising that proactive care plays an important role in maintaining a safe and supportive workplace. As part of this commitment, the company recently organised for a medical practitioner to travel to the Kathleen Valley site to provide professional skin checks for members of the team working in the region.
Operating in Western Australia often means working in environments with high levels of sun exposure. For people in the resources sector, long hours outdoors are common, making regular screening an important step in protecting long term health.
The visit saw Dr Tricia from Shade Skin Cancer Medicine fly out to Kathleen Valley to conduct checks for team members who wished to participate. Providing access to experienced medical professionals directly at site helped remove practical barriers and encouraged participation in an initiative focused on prevention and early detection.
Early detection remains one of the most effective ways to manage skin cancer. Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, particularly among people who spend extended periods outdoors. Initiatives like this help raise awareness of the importance of regular skin checks while reinforcing a culture where health and wellbeing are actively supported.
Liontown is also extending this focus on prevention to its Perth based workforce. With the practice located on Outram Street in West Perth, close to the Liontown Head Office, employees can access professional screening through the #ThrowShade initiative, allowing staff to attend Shade Skin Cancer Medicine for skin checks that are bulk billed, with no out of pocket cost.
By investing in preventative health programs and making access to care easier for its people, Liontown continues to reinforce its commitment to workplace wellbeing and the long-term health of its team.
