Liontown hosts inaugural Christmas family day visits
30/12/2025
Liontown recently welcomed a very special group of visitors to our Kathleen Valley Lithium Operation – the families of our team members. As part of a new initiative to celebrate the dedication of our people working over the Christmas period, we invited employees to bring their loved ones to site for a day so they could experience Kathleen Valley in person.
Team members and their families enjoyed a festive Christmas lunch together and experienced guided tours of the operation. The tours offered a unique behind-the-scenes look at Kathleen Valley, allowing family members to see where their loved ones work and learn about the scale and complexity of what we have built at our Tier-1 world class operation. “It was an ultra-special treat being able to have my family visit on site and getting to spend the day with them,” shared Lubrication Technician David Waldock.
Families got to get involved, learn about the geology at Kathleen Valley and even have a go at using emergency services equipment, including a fire truck. Family members commented how much they appreciated the preparedness and attention to detail that went into safety on site and how nice it was to get to meet the work friends that their loved ones come home and talk about. For the children present, it was a great opportunity to learn about the many career paths they could take in mining.
For many of our team members, it was also a chance to explore parts of site they wouldn’t normally get to spend time in. Underground Geologist Matthew Lauricella said, “It was great to be able to show my family all the areas I work and what I do here. I’d never seen the wind turbines up close, so that was a highlight of my day personally.”
Visitors also learnt about Tjiwarl culture, gaining insight into the rich heritage and ongoing partnership between Liontown and the Traditional Owners of the land in which we operate.
We are immensely grateful to all our team and contractors who keep Kathleen Valley running during a time when many of their loved ones are enjoying a break.
