The open pit operation at Kathleen Valley was completed on schedule in December 2025, marking a significant achievement for our team and our open pit mining partner, Iron Mine Contracting.

This video celebrates the milestone, featuring team members who played integral parts in the operation’s journey from start to finish. In their own words, they share what it was like to arrive at site to find nothing but untouched bushland and to transform it into a fully operational open pit mine.

The team speaks candidly about the challenges they encountered and overcame, the strong working relationships they forged across different teams and the career development opportunities they gained as the pit deepened.

From firing the first blast to meeting the critical milestones along the way and finally watching the last truck of ore make its way to the ROM pad, every moment was accomplished through determination, teamwork and partnership.
